Justice Belgore’s death was announced by the Chairman of the Ilorin branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Kamaldeen Gambari.
Reports say the late jurist died soon after breaking his Ramadan fast yesterday evening.
The late Belgore retired in April 2023 as an Appeal Court Justice after attaining the retirement age of 70.
Born on April 18, 1953, Belgore earned his Law degree from Ahmadu Bello University in 1978.
He served as a High Court Judge in Kwara State from 1990 to 2006 and during that time, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Special Miscellaneous Offences Tribunal sitting in Abuja in 1999.
He was seconded to the Gambia in 2001. While in the country, he served as a Court of Appeal Court Justice for 2 years before being elevated to the Acting Justice of the Supreme Court. He returned to Nigeria in December 2005.
He was then appointed as a Court of Appeal Justice, in Nigeria on April 27, 2006 serving as the Presiding Justice of the Sharia Panel till his retirement
He was a Life Bencher and the younger brother of a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Alfa Belgore.
