Ibrahim Babangida, a former Super Eagles footballer, died in an accident on Zaira Road.
His brother Tijani, who was travelling with his wife, son, and maid, was also involved in the crash.
Tijani is the president of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria, (PFAN).
A statement by the General Secretary of (PFAN), Emmanuel Babayaro, confirmed . Ibrahim died in the crash.
But Tijani and rest of his family were said to be responding to treatment.
