Cellou Dalein Diallo, former Prime Minister of Guinea, has expressed displeasure at the demolition of his residence by the country’s Military Junta.

This comes after the Guinean military authorities destroyed the private residence of the former Prime Minister on Saturday.

Cellou Dalein Diallo was told to evacuate his home by the junta, which claimed it was targeting illegally obtained state property and inferior structures.

The former prime minister contested the move, saying it was his private property, having bought it from the state in 2005.

Diallo noted that the demolition took place while an investigation over the matter was ongoing.

The decision, according to government spokesman Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, is part of critical rehabilitation programs.

“We must advance. This does not prevent justice taking its course,” he told newsmen.

Recall that in September 2021, the military junta led by Col Mamady Doumbouya seized power, a move that saw President Alpha Conde deposed.
