Former Kenya international defender George Owino is being investigated by World football governing body FIFA over an alleged involvement in match-fixing.
The former Harambee stars player is said to have been paid millions of shillings to throw Kenya national team’s matches.
A report released by FIFA claimed that Owino, through 177 emails between him and international match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal, conspired to manipulate the result of international matches involving Kenya.
Owino is also said to have tried to approach and recruit several of his teammates to join the syndicate while he was at it.
The defender had in the past dismissed the allegations saying; “Let’s wait for FIFA to call me over the same then I can speak. For now, I do not know anything. I am hearing it from you for the first time.”
