A Kenyan High Court has released former Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel on Sh100,000 cash bail. Lempurkel was jailed for one year for assaulting lawmaker Sarah Korere.
His release is coming a few months after being handed a 12 months sentence in jail for slapping colleague Hon. Sarah Korere in 2016.
He was granted bail by Justice Justus Obwononga pending his appeal on his conviction. The MP had been in jail since November 12, 2021 when he started serving his sentence.
