Former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke has requested an amendment to her suit before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The suit challenges the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) order for the final forfeiture of her seized assets.
The EFCC had no legal representation at the resumed hearing.
Justice Ekwo inquired whether Alison-Madueke’s counsel had received any filings from the EFCC, to which he confirmed receipt.
The counsel further informed the court that they had filed a motion to amend their processes and duly served the EFCC.
The judge adjourned the case to February 17, 2025, to hear the motion for amending the originating process.
The former minister is seeking an extension of time to apply for an order setting aside the EFCC’s public notice regarding the sale of her confiscated property.
She claimed that she was not given a fair hearing in all of the actions leading up to the sale orders for her property.
However, the EFCC claimed that the majority of the depositions in Mrs Alison-Madueke’s lawsuit were false.
It stated that, contrary to her deposition in the affidavit, the majority of the cases that resulted in the final confiscation of the challenged property were heard and decided by the court at different dates.
