The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended four suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen tricycle following an incident reported by a victim, Nuhu Muhammad.
Muhammad was attacked and robbed of his tricycle near Jimeta Bridge in Yola, the state capital, on Sunday.
The suspects, identified as Abdullahi Yusuf (22), Umar Yahaya (20), Hassan Ishaka (24), and Shuaibu Abubakar (19), all residents of Kwabura village in Hawal Local Government Area of Borno State, allegedly pushed Muhammad out of the tricycle before fleeing with it.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the arrests and recovery of the stolen vehicle.
“Investigation so far reveals that the suspects boarded the tricycle as passengers to a certain location, around Viniklang, Girei Local Government Area. Upon reaching the Jimeta Bridge, the suspects applied force on the tricyclist, threatening him with dangerous weapons.
“A swift response from the Jimeta Division patrol team led to the arrest of these suspects and the recovery of the tricycle.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, assured that the suspects will be charged to court for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery upon the conclusion of investigation,” the police disclosed on Monday.
