Hours after regaining freedom from the hands of their abductors, freed Kankara schoolboys have arrived Katsina State.
The boys, 344 of them, were received by the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari who had earlier said 333 boys were abducted.
The boys regained freedom from Tsafe, Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria on Thursday and were driven back to Katsina on Friday.
Masari promised that the freed boys will be given proper medical attention. He also explained that the government didn’t pay any ransom to get them freed.
Recall that hundreds of schoolboys were kidnapped after a school attack last week Friday. The actual number of the abducted students has been a subject of debate with the state government and residents of Kankara declaring different figures.
The state government’s earlier claims of 333 now looks wrong as the governor himself said that 344 of the boys have been freed and that is not all of the students in the hands of the attackers.
Boko Haram on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the abduction and released a video on Thursday showing the boys, hours before their rescue.
