Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has once again communicated to the State House of Assembly, notifying the legislators of his plan to re-submit the 2025 Appropriation Bill for their review and approval.
In a letter dated March 13 and directed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, Fubara, said he aimed to present the budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, or any other date in March that the House might find suitable.
The governor explained that his choice to re-submit the 2025 budget was made following the Supreme Court ruling and in response to the lawmakers’ request for him to bring back the budget for consideration.

He reflected on the unfortunate incident of visiting the Assembly quarters that week accompanied by his team, where the lawmakers were temporarily located to unveil the budget but were not permitted entry to the facility.
It should be recalled that there was a minor incident at the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt last Wednesday when security personnel allegedly locked the main gate to prevent Fubara and his team from entering.
Reports indicate that Fubara was at the location to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill in line with the Supreme Court of Nigeria’s verdict on February 28, 2025. Additionally, it was gathered that the action taken by the security personnel was based on the viewpoint that there had been no formal communication between the governor and the Assembly before his visit
