World Leaders Who have Arrived
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, was the first Head of Delegation to arrive in Delhi for the G20 Summit. SP Singh Baghel, the minister of state for health, welcomed him.
The World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) Director General, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, arrived at the airport in New Delhi on Thursday night to attend the G20 Summit.
The International Monetary Fund’s Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, has also arrived for the G20 Summit.
Other world leaders have arrived in the nation for the G20 Summit in Delhi, including Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Mathias Cormann, Secretary General of the OECD, Minister of Economy Raquel Buenrostro Sánchez of Mexico, Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, and President of the European Council Charles Michel.
World Leaders Yet To Arrive
On Thursday, US Vice President Joe Biden departed for India in order to attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi. During his trip to India for the G20 Summit, Biden will abide by the COVID-19 recommendations of the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), according to the White House. On Monday, 72-year-old First Lady Jill Biden tested positive for COVID-19. Following his wife’s positive test, President Biden, 80, underwent the viral test on Monday and Tuesday, but the results were negative for him. Around 6.55 p.m., the US President is anticipated to arrive, and VK Singh, the minister of state, will welcome him.
Along with Biden, other G20 leaders who have confirmed they will attend the summit include French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and UAE President HH Shaikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Premier Li Qiang of China is anticipated to arrive around 7:45 p.m.
Additionally, according to ANI, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has confirmed his trip to India for the G20 Summit. According to a statement issued by the South African president on Thursday, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor will assist President Ramaphosa. In advance of the G20 Summit, the group’s members decided to give the African Union, a continental organisation with 55 member states, permanent membership, according to Bloomberg. As a result, the African Union now enjoys the same standing as the European Union.
