Galatasaray has accused Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho of making racist statements following a goalless draw between the two Istanbul giants.
The allegation came after the Portuguese coach reportedly made comments about the home bench, saying they were “jumping like monkeys” after the match.
While Mourinho has not responded publicly, the accusations have sparked an uproar.
Galatasaray, in a statement on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, announced their intention to launch criminal proceedings against the 62-year-old manager.
The club also stated they would file official complaints with both UEFA and FIFA.

The dispute has escalated as Galatasaray highlighted Mourinho’s previous derogatory remarks about Turkish people. They expressed concern that his comments have moved beyond immoral to inhumane rhetoric.
Fenerbahce, currently second in the Turkish Super Lig, with Galatasaray holding a six-point lead, has not yet commented on the matter.
The match was officiated by Slovenia’s Slavko Vincic, who was chosen after both clubs requested a foreign referee for the highly charged fixture.
