Nigeria’s Galaxy Backbone and the West Indian Ocean Cable Company(WIOCC) have partnered to enhance high-speed internet access nationwide.
The Galaxy Backbone announced this significant collaboration via a statement on Sunday, emphasising that the agreement supports Nigeria’s digital inclusion and transformation efforts.
According to the agency, a signing ceremony occurred recently at its headquarters in Abuja, with Darren Bedford, Group Chief Development Officer at WIOCC, and Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone in attendance.
The partnership hopes to close the digital gap by improving broadband access in underserved areas and encouraging collaborations with mobile network operators (MNOs) to promote Nigeria’s digital economy.
A signing event was conducted at the corporate headquarters of Galaxy Backbone in Abuja, featuring Darren Bedford, Group Chief Development Officer at WIOCC, and Managing Director/CEO of Galaxy Backbone, alongside Professor Ibrahim A. Adeyanju.
They emphasised the strategic synergy between both organisations in promoting digital transformation to hasten Nigeria’s digital advancement, establishing a standard for innovation and connectivity that meets the changing requirements of Nigeria’s digital landscape.
