Manchester United secured their first win in over a month by defeating Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford. Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund both scored.
The victory lifted United to tenth place in the standings with 11 points from eight matches, providing some relief for manager Erik ten Hag amid ongoing media speculation about his position.
Despite conceding a controversial goal, United fought back and claimed the win, while Brentford now sit 12th in the table with 10 points.
In the first half, United had to play with ten men after Matthijs de Ligt was temporarily removed to address a head injury, allowing Brentford to score from a corner through Ethan Pinnock.
However, United responded strongly in the second half, with Garnacho capitalising on a cross from Marcus Rashford to equalise in the 47th minute.
The home side then took the lead in the 62nd minute when Rasmus Hojlund scored a spectacular goal, chipping the ball over Brentford’s goalkeeper Mark Flekken after being set up by Bruno Fernandes’ back-heel pass.
