The foreign affairs ministry of Uganda has verified that the president of Uganda‘s son General Muhoozi Kainerugaba is visiting Ethiopia on business.
In the past, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba had tweeted in favour of the Tigrayan rebels, but the Ugandan army informed reporters in July that this was just his personal opinion and not the army’s position.
He is anticipated to meet Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, according to local media sources.
President Yoweri Museveni recently sent Gen. Kainerugaba to Rwanda to assist ease long-standing tensions between the two nations, which had forced the closure of a shared border for three years.
In order to send a special message to Kenya’s departing President Uhuru Kenyatta, he was also sent there in June of this year.
Some see Gen Kainerugaba’s growing diplomatic involvement as President Museveni‘s long-term attempt to prepare his son to succeed him as leader.
