Germany’s President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is gearing up for a visit to Nigeria, scheduled to span from December 10 to December 12, 2024. This announcement, released on Monday by the German Embassy, highlights the anticipation surrounding the trip.
“While in Abuja, President Steinmeier will meet with the President of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as with the President of the Commission of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), His Excellency Dr. Alieu Omar Touray,” the statement partly read.
Following his initial engagements, the German President will travel to Lagos. There, he is set to meet with business leaders, explore a start-up hub, and connect with notable figures from Nigeria’s cultural and civil society sectors, including Dr. Nike Okundaye and Professor Wole Soyinka.
“There will also be an opportunity to tour the city of Lagos and gain insights into the urban development of a megacity, including environmental and social challenges.
“President Steinmeier will be accompanied by a business delegation of CEOs and high-ranking board members of some of Germany’s most successful companies in the fields of IT, hightech and energy – an indication of the rising interest of German businesses in opportunities to invest in Nigeria.
