Relentless and unyielding, John Dramani Mahama, Ghana’s opposition candidate and his party, the National Democratic Congress have revealed they will challenge the results of the election in court.
On Tuesday, the NDC said it will take the case to the Supreme Court because the election was rigged by President Nana Akufo-Addo and his party.
Akufo-Addo won 51.59% of the December 7 vote while Mahama won 47.37%.
Mahama of the NDC, a former President was hopeful of defeating the incumbent to take his pound of flesh after losing to the same man in 2016.
While the election also had its ugly share of violence, with at least five people killed, it was generally adjudged as a peaceful election.
The violence that came up was unexpected and is considered to be rare in a country known for its very stable democracy.

“The NDC will contest the results of the rigged election in the Supreme Court and other appropriate fora,” the party’s executive committee said in a statement on Tuesday.
It is just the second time in about eight elections that the results will be contested at the Supreme Court.
Rejection of election results is not popular in Ghana. In what looks like a repeat of what Akufo-Addo did in 2012, when disagreements over election results led to an 8-month tussle, Mahama is also testing the waters to see how deeply he can swim.
