Ghana Sacks Minister Sarah Adwoa Over Absence From Work (News Central TV)

Sarah Adwoa Safo, the gender minister for Ghana, was stripped of her duties after more than a year of nonstop absences.

Her dismissal was not specifically stated by the presidency in a news release, but it may have been related to her persistent absence, which has alarmed the nation. For the ministry, a new caretaker minister has been chosen.

She had requested a leave of absence from President Nana Akufo-Addo for private reasons, which was granted and extended after it expired in August of last year.

Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of the House of Commons, is anticipated to issue a written decision on the committee’s proposal to void her seat.

Without the Speaker’s consent, she had missed more than 51 sitting days of the legislature and had declined to accept a committee’s invitation due to her frequent absences.

Minority members of the House have asked that she have a fair hearing before the Speaker makes a decision.

She has not yet responded to being fired, although she gave her sick son’s care in the US as the reason for her absence. She had also stated that the Speaker and President Akufo-Addo were aware of her family issues.
