Ghanaian Duo Advance to Britain’s Got Talent Final

Ghanaian Duo Advance To Britain's Got Talent Final

Britain’s Got Talent judge, Bruno Tonioli shared his thoughts to Ghanaian dancers Abigail and Afronita following their semi-final performance on the 2024 edition of Britain’s Got Talent.

He said, “Looking at you makes me happy, you really are a tonic for the spirit. Your individual style of dancing is so unique and beautiful, your musicality is out of this world and your personality really shines through. Love you, love you.”

Adorned in a crimson two-piece attire with a touch of the Ghanaian authentic Kente fabric to express their Ghanaian heritage, the duo presented what numerous social media users have hailed as an electrifying routine during the 2024 Britain’s Got Talent semi-final. Their performance left both the audience and judges spellbound, showcasing their exceptional talent.

Afronita, aged 20, and the reality star Abigail, aged 7, delivered a medley of popular hits, including Fuse ODG’s “Azonto,” Beyoncé’s “Run The World,” and Toofan’s “Gweta,” among others.

Their performance garnered a standing ovation, eliciting enthusiastic praise from the audience even during the judges’ evaluations.

To the surprise of many, the sternest judge, Simon Cowell, commended the duo saying, “When you’ve got it, you’ve got it.”… referring to the audience, he said “I think what is happening behind me is more important than what I say.”

He remarked that the Ghanaian dancers left him baffled, admitting that although he was confident about his prediction for the competition’s winner the day before, their captivating routine had him doubting his earlier certainty.
The always cheerful Afronita couldn’t contain her excitement after the judgment, saying, “I feel blessed to be here, I feel blessed to see everyone on their feet.”

She added “This is a big testimony for me, for Abigail, for Ghana and for everyone that supports us. We are so grateful. It’s been so emotional…thanks to God and everyone.”

Afronita and Abigail sailed through to the final after securing victory in the public vote during the fourth semi-final night. They will vie with other contestants in the final on Sunday.
