Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo Commissions Complex for African Games

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has commissioned a multipurpose sports facility for the upcoming All African Games scheduled to hold in the country in March.

The sports facility, the Borteyman Sports Complex was equipped with basic features for the African Games such as tennis, volleyball, swimming pool, and other necessities.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the complex, Akufo-Addo stated that it the country went through a rigorous process to secure approval to host the All African Games, marking its first time.

He said the facility required resources to ensure it can cost 5,000 athletes, 3,000 officials, and several thousands of fans, who would be visiting Ghana in March.

President Akufo-Addo added that an estimate of 2.2 billion people, comprising of both in-person and virtual audience, is expected at the 13th edition of the All African Games.

“As we enter the final stretch of preparations for the African Games next month, we will do everything possible to make our visitors welcome and ensure the best arrangements for the planned events,” the president said.

As of Tuesday, 49 African nations have registered their participation at the Games, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has said.
