Nigerian long jumper, Ese Brume has won a Commonwealth gold medal and created a Commonwealth record in the process.
Brume began the final event with a false jump but went on to deliver a Commonwealth record on her second leap.
The World silver medalist leaped 6.99m twice to consolidate on her brilliant showing before thrilling the Birmingham crowd and herself on the last jump.
She delivered a 7.00m jump in the final to win the gold medal and was left in a jubilant mood when she realised her achievement.
Brume did a sprint and had pride written all over her face as the Nigerian flag was hoisted while the anthem came up.
Her feat was Nigeria’s 12th gold medal at the event, and the country’s highest ever at the Commonwealth Games.
