Gor Mahia FC has officially won the Kenyan Premier League title for the 2018/2019 season with two matches to spare after a 1-1 draw against Vihiga United on Wednesday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
This title is Gor Mahia’s third consecutive title and an unprecedented 18th crown. The trophy will be handed over to the team on Saturday in Machakos during their away match to 14th placed Posta Rangers.
According to Jack Oguda, Kenyan Premier League CEO, Gor Mahia will get to keep the trophy.
“Gor Mahia will have the trophy for keep this season. That’s the procedure and we will have to follow it. We will buy another trophy for next season,” Jack Oguda said.
K’Ogalo’s closest title challengers Bandari were left frustrated by Mathare United after a goalless draw at the Kasarani Stadium.
The Dockers needed to beat the Slum boys and hope Gor dropped points to delay their inevitable title celebrations.
Gor will represent Kenya in next season’s CAF Champions League.
