Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the establishment of a state-level committee to combat drug abuse.

The committee, chaired by the state’s Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, is designed to support and enhance the efforts of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Professor Farauta announced the governor’s approval on Sunday during a special church service held in honour of Samson Agboalu, the outgoing NDLEA Commandant in Adamawa State.

“Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has approved a Drug Control Committee to ensure zero tolerance for drug abuse in the state,” Farauta said.

Asserting that the government would leave no stone unturned in curbing the menace of drug abuse, Farauta insisted on the need for a drug-free society.

Professor Farauta remarked at the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries church in Yola, where Agbaolu’s Thanksgiving service took place, saying, “We must train our children to take over leadership from us as good citizens.”

She thanked Agboalu for his services to the state and wished him well in his future endeavours.

Earlier in his remark, Agboalu said the establishment of the drug control committee and constitution of Ngurore-Numan checkpoint has reduced robbery and drug trafficking in the state.
