The governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has received praise from the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state for his recent initiatives. Governor Fintiri has introduced a monthly allowance of ₦10,000 for corps members serving in the state, a move that has been well-received.
During the opening ceremony of the 2024 Batch A, Stream 2 orientation parade on Tuesday, the State NYSC Coordinator, Malam Mohammed Lawal, commended the governor for this initiative, stating that the allowance would positively impact corps members.
He emphasised the NYSC’s commitment to supporting beneficial policies and programs in Adamawa State.
Lawal also mentioned that the 1,309 corps members deployed to the state would commence their primary assignments after completing the three-week orientation camp.
He urged employers to view corps members as valuable partners and to consider hiring them, acknowledging their cooperation in ensuring the success of the NYSC program.
Representing the governor, Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta reiterated the administration’s backing of the NYSC scheme. He urged corps members to prioritise both their collective and individual security, assuring them of Adamawa’s status as a peaceful state.
“We regard the NYSC as a strategic partner in the implementation of our people-oriented programmes, especially in education, healthcare, agriculture and rural development.
“As corps members posted to serve in Adamawa, you are now bonafide citizens of the state. As such, we expect you to distinguish yourselves in your various places of primary assignment,” he advised.
