Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has appointed Alhaji Dauda Iliya as his new spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media.
This appointment comes after the passing of Mallam Isa Gusau, who served as the Governor’s spokesperson until his death in February 2024.
The announcement was made in a statement on Friday by Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor.
Dauda Iliya, currently the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno State Chapter, is from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in southern Borno. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics and a master’s in Mass Communication, both from the University of Maiduguri, completed in 2024.
Over the years, he has attended numerous professional courses and trainings, further enhancing his expertise.
Iliya is a member of various professional organisations, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters. Before his appointment, he worked as a reporter for the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), covering Borno State.
Governor Zulum congratulated Iliya on his new role and encouraged him to bring his wealth of experience to the service of Borno State.
