Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has directed an immediate halt to the sale of petrol in all filling stations within Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and Banki.
The directive follows consultations with security agencies and is part of ongoing efforts to address security concerns in the region.
Announcing the decision in a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum said the move is a strategic measure aligned with the state government’s counter-insurgency operations.

“I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of Bama Local Government Area with immediate effect,” the Governor declared.
He issued a stern warning against defaulters, stating, “Let me make it clear—there will be no sacred cows in the enforcement of this ban. Security agencies have been given strict orders to clamp down on any filling station or individual contravening this directive. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly.”
Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to restore peace across the state and urged citizens to continue supporting the fight against insurgency.
