Cooperative energy transfer from the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe is a top objective, Dendias stated during a news conference.

On relations with Turkey, he claimed that things had improved after Greece showed solidarity and support in the wake of the tragic earthquakes that struck the country on February 6.

“I wish this positive climate will lead to negotiations on essential issues such as demarcation of an exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf in line with international law and maritime law,” said Dendias.

Moreover, Shoukry reaffirmed Cairo’s desire for improved communication and understanding with Athens.

“We aim to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation between our countries,” he said.

The foreign minister of Egypt also mentioned that he will be traveling to Ankara, the capital of Turkey, later this week. In Athens, Shoukry also spoke with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek prime minister.

The Greek-Egyptian electrical interconnection project GREGY, which plans to send renewable energy generated in Egypt to Europe via Greece, was reviewed during the discussion in addition to bilateral relations and regional developments, according to a statement from the prime minister’s office.
