Security agents under the instructions of Greenfuel Company reportedly ploughed down unharvested crops of settlers and destroyed houses in Chinyamukwakwa Village in Chipinge.

The guards of the company run by business mogul, Billy Rautenbach were armed with guns and they had security dogs. Headman Chinyamukwakwa confirmed the matter, saying four villagers had been ordered to bring their property outside the houses so that the buildings could be pulled down.

Prominent lawyer Professor Lovemore Madhuku

The boundary dispute has prompted the villagers to engage prominent lawyer Professor Lovemore Madhuku in a bid to resist eviction from their ancestral lands.

Greenfuel is a company growing sugarcane mostly to make fuel. There is a boundary dispute between Rautenbach who owns massive estates in the country including in Chiredzi and Mwenezi and the villagers who now have to move out of their ancestral lands.

When contacted for comments, Greenfuel spokesperson Merit Rumema said she was unaware of the matter. The company recently ordered villagers to harvest their crops and leave by August. The invasion by armed security guards, therefore came as a rude shock to them.

Chinyamukwakwa villagers recently accused Zanu PF politicians and in particular the local MP Enock Porusingasi of conniving with Greenfuel to evict them.
