Guinea’s former president Moussa Dadis Camara has been detained ahead of trial for his alleged involvement in a stadium massacre, which he denies.
Lawyers for Camara, say he has been sent to jail ahead of his trial for his alleged role in a stadium massacre 13 years ago.
His co-accused will also be confined until the end of the trial, which starts Wednesday 28, 2022.
At least 156 people were killed and thousands injured during the opposition protest leaving more than 100 women raped, an international commission revealed following investigations.
Witnesses said the security forces blocked the stadium, assaulted women and shot at people or killed them with knives.
Affected groups under the aegis of the Association of Victims, Relatives and Friends of September 28, 2009 (AVIPA), Equal Rights for All (MDT), the Guinean Human Rights Organisation (OGDH), the International Federation for Human Rights, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch have continued to press for justice.
