Guinness World Records; Why Did Hilda Get 93 Hours Instead of 100 (News Central TV)

Guinness World Records released an official statement today, Tuesday, June 13, 2023. The organisation acknowledged Lagos-based chef Hilda Baci as the individual with the longest cooking time ever recorded. During a rigorous time period from May 11th to May 15th of this year, Ms. Baci cooked for an impressive 100 hours. However, her officially recognised record stood at a remarkable 93 hours, earning her a place in history and admiration for her prodigious culinary stamina.

According to a statement released by Guinness World Records, Hilda Baci unintentionally exceeded the sanctioned five-minute break period. This error resulted in her time reduction from 100 hours, which she set out for, to 93 hours.

The statement read:

Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours; however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt. As with all ‘longest marathon’ records, the participant is permitted a five-minute rest break for every continuous hour of activity. These rest breaks can accumulate if not taken. They were the only times Hilda could use the bathroom or sleep during the attempt.

In Hilda’s pursuit of breaking the world record for the longest cooking period by an individual, she prepared over 100 dishes. These culinary creations were varied and diverse, showcasing her exceptional skills in the kitchen. Her impressive feat is a testament to her dedication and passion for cooking.
