Terror-bandits operating in the North Central State of Niger have kidnapped two Chinese workers at the Zungeru Hydro Power Dam project in Niger State where they killed two security men.
The Zungeru Hydropower Plant, on the Kaduna River, in Niger State is the biggest ongoing power generation project in Nigeria projected to generate 700MW. Construction started in 2013, by CNEEC and Sino-Hydro company.
The Federal Government recently allocated N43 Billion for a new multilateral/bilateral project-tied loan on Zungeru hydro- electric power project in Niger State.
The allocation for the new hydro power project was contained in the 2022 appropriation signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari a fortnight ago.
Secretary to Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Minna, Niger State on Wednesday.
He said details would be made available later.
