The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan has confirmed that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted some students during an attack on Greenfield University, a private university in Kaduna state in Nigeria on Tuesday night.
Greenfield University established in January 2019 and located along the Kaduna–Abuja Highway in Chikun Local Government Area is the first private university in the state.
Information made available to News Central say the gunmen stormed the university Tuesday night, shooting sporadically, before taking some of the students away.
In recent times, Kaduna has faced series of attacks by kidnappers who free their victims for hefty fees, including assaults on schools. The Federal College of Forestry Mechanization Afaka in the Igabi Local Government Area was attacked on March 11, 2021 by gunmen who kidnapped 39 students.
Although ten of the students have been released, the fate of the remaining students still hangs in the balance.
