A Channels Television reporter Joshua Rogers was kidnapped by armed men near his residence in the Rumuosi area of Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state on Thursday.
According to reports, the abductors are demanding a ransom of N30 million from his family for his release.
Sources said Rogers was driving an official Channels Television-branded vehicle when the armed men attacked and abducted him around 9 pm.
Although the television channel has not issued an official statement confirming the incident, Rogers’ cameraman has corroborated reports of the abduction.
The surging cases of violent crimes and insecurity in Nigeria, is a major source of concern to citizens and security agencies.
In February 2024, the Federal Government proposed the introduction of state police across 36 states to support the country’s law enforcement efforts to curb widespread violence and insecurity.
