Gunmen have reportedly abducted Hon. Benedict Akika, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a key supporter of Governor Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday night.
Akika, popularly known as “Bene,” was taken from his home in Idi Ape, Olorunda-Aba, in Lagelu Local Government Area, by masked assailants.
There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that a life may have been lost during the abduction.
The Oyo State Police Command has yet to release an official statement, but its spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed via phone that an investigation is underway, with further details to follow.
The state government has also not issued any comments on the incident.
