In the early hours of Saturday, gunmen razed the country home of Imo State governor Hope Uzodinma, killing two security operatives attached to guard the structure.
The house, located in Omuma, Oru East Local Government Area of the state, Southeast Nigeria was torched after the gunmen killed the operatives.
Cars parked inside the compound and other parts of the building were also burnt by the yet-to-be identified gunmen.
Firefighters are reportedly trying to put out the inferno and stop it from spreading to other structures, as a government representative, Declan Emelumba, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy confirmed the incident.
He said the number of casualties are still unclear but soldiers have already taken over the community.
