Reports indicate that three students at the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Northcentral Nigeria, were shot by gunmen.
Sources say the assailants also kidnapped a female student from Science Laboratory Technology who went by the name Ajoke and was enrolled in ND ll.
It was gathered that the incident occurred around 08:00pm on Monday.
The Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, was reportedly treating the students who had been shot.
The shooting victims include Danladi Nicholas, who is reportedly applying for admission, Freedom Luka, who is a student of HND I Public Administration, and Ogwuche Janet, who is reportedly a student of HND II Business Administration and Management.
Additionally, according to our correspondent, residents, staff, and students at the Polytechnic environment have remained concerned about security.
At a news conference on Tuesday, Dr. Justina Anjiode-Kotso, the institution’s rector, acknowledged the attack.
Louis John Ogah, the Deputy Rector Academic, who was acting on behalf of Anjiode-Kotso, stated that the state’s security services had been informed of the situation.
He claims that an investigation into the unpleasant development is proceeding in order to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In order to ensure that the victims are freed unharmed, he noted that security personnel were hot on the trail of the kidnappers.
This is coming barely week after bandits abducted an unspecified number of students from the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State.
