The Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation members in South Africa arrested three police detectives aged 39, 44 and 48 on Monday, February 26. 2024, for alleged corruption. They were arrested at a mall in Hebron.
According to reports, the trio sought bribes from the complainant in order to avoid arresting him. They allegedly sought R6000.00, but the complainant was able to pay them R2000.00.
The accused reportedly approached the complainant and demanded the outstanding payment. After the problem was brought to the Hawks’ notice, an entrapment operation was initiated, and the three were captured shortly after receiving R4000.00 from the complainant.
They have been accused of corruption and will appear before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
