The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has appointed Prof. Ibibia Worika, a lawyer and administrator, as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
In an announcement, the Sole Administrator said that the appointment, effective immediately, came after a thorough selection process where Worika’s vast experience, academic qualifications, and expertise in policy were particularly noted.
In another development, the former naval chief designated Iyingi Brown as the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service to temporarily serve as the Head of Service until a permanent appointment is made.

This decision followed the resignation of the former Head of Service, George Nwaeke. The government appreciated Nwaeke’s contributions during his service and extended best wishes for his future pursuits.
While congratulating Brown on her new position, the administrator reaffirmed his dedication to fostering peace and stability in Rivers State.
“The wealth of experience that Professor Worika possesses in legal scholarship, public policy, and governance will be key to advancing the administration’s agenda. His appointment reflects our commitment to excellence in public service,” the statement noted.
The Sole Administrator reiterated his resolve to leverage the abundant human capital of Rivers State to promote peace, stability, and security.
