Reports indicate that a helicopter crashed onto the roof of an office building in Capetown, South Africa, leaving all four persons onboard dead. Three of the four victims were South African nationals while the Fourth was a Russian
The building is on one of the city’s main streets and the helicopter narrowly avoided crashing into the luxury Cape Sun Hotel.
Debris from the helicopter, which was in flames, broke several windows in the hotel but none of the guests was injured.
The chopper crashed into a roof at Boston building, a seven storey office complex in the centre of the city.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and put out the Russian-made chopper which was in flames shortly after the crash.
Minister of Transport in South Africa Mac Maharaj confirmed the incident in a statement and commiserated with the families of the deceased. He also said that an investigation into the cause of the crash has begun.
