An Eurocopter EC 130 chopper transporting Herbert Wigwe, Nigerian billionaire banker has crashed and killed him on Friday around 10 p.m. local time.
The helicopter which crashed near Nipton, California also killed five others, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
Wigwe is the CEO of Access Holdings.
They were said to be heading for Las Vegas to watch Super Bowl, the annual league championship game of the National Football League (NFL) of the United States.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement on Saturday morning, there were no survivors.
“We were made aware of a downed aircraft at approximately 10:12 p.m., on February 10, 2024. The scene of the crash was determined to be east of the 15-Freeway, near Halloran Springs Road,” the sheriff’s department said.
The FAA identified the helicopter as a Eurocopter EC 130.
Investigations are underway by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
Nipton is a small town in San Bernardino County located 12 miles southeast of Primm, Nevada.
