Acknowledgment of Economic Challenges: Tinubu addressed the current hardships, recognising the high cost of living and unemployment concerns facing Nigerians.
Commitment to Reforms: He emphasised the government’s commitment to long-term economic and structural reforms, asking citizens for patience as these changes take effect.
Celebrating Nigerian Spirit: Tinubu highlighted the progress Nigeria has made in 64 years, lauding the resilience, enterprise, and intellectual capacity of Nigerians.
Security Improvements: The President reported significant progress in fighting terrorism, especially Boko Haram and banditry, with over 300 commanders neutralised within the last year.
Economic Reforms: He stressed the need for fiscal realignment to stabilise the economy and mentioned that Nigeria attracted over $30 billion in foreign investments over the past year.
Monetary Policy and Forex Stability: Tinubu praised the Central Bank’s monetary policies for stabilising the foreign exchange market and reducing Nigeria’s debt service ratio from 97% to 68%.
Investment in Agriculture: The Federal Government has invested in agricultural production, supplying equipment and fertiliser to boost food production and lower food prices.
Natural Disaster Response: The administration has set up a Disaster Relief Fund and is conducting dam integrity tests to prevent future flooding incidents.
Youth Empowerment: A National Youth Conference was announced to address challenges and empower the youth. Additionally, initiatives like the 3 Million Technical Talents Programme (3MTT) and Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) aim to support young Nigerians.
Labour and Employment Initiative: The government will launch the Renewed Hope Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP), aimed at creating 2.5 million jobs annually.
Energy Transition: Nigeria’s energy transition strategy includes expanding the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for cheaper public transportation.
Call for National Unity: Tinubu urged Nigerians to work together in nation-building, expressing hope for better days ahead and highlighting the nation’s resilience and tenacity.
