The annual west African music festival, Afrochella came to a grand finish after several stellar performances from some of Africa’s biggest stars.
Between December 28 and 29, the festival’s lineup included an all-star roster of musical talent, including African Giant Burna Boy, Rave of the moment ASAKE, Fireboy DML, and many others including Ghana’s heavyweight stars Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Gyakie, King Promise.
Attendees and partygoers from across the globe gathered at the El Wak sports stadium, Accra where these African stars thrilled the crowd with electrifying performances. Shatta wale delivered an energetic performance and even fellow Ghanaian musician Kwesi Arthur serenaded the crowd effortlessly.
Social media quickly picked up the videos where ‘19 & Dangerous’ songstress Ayra Star fell on stage while trying to hype up the crowd. The now 20 year old star got off the floor and dusted herself quickly, giggling about the rather embarrassing moment. She tweeted much later “I just hope my crush never sees that video of me falling”
This year’s theme of “Afrofuturism,” also featured a two-week “Afrochella Expo,” a series of panels, screenings and discussions exploring topics of innovation and growth in Ghana and throughout the African continent.
The music festival Afrochella first began as purely a party in 2017 and has blossomed into one of the biggest annual events in Ghana.
