Hoodlums emptied a truckload of spaghetti in Zaria on Thursday, when the driver parked for afternoon prayer in Dogarawa, a settlement on the outskirts of Zaria along the Zaria-Kaduna expressway.
Witness recounted that the hoodlums attacked the BUA truck and started carting away cartons of spaghetti, while the driver made futile attempts to intervene.
One of the witnesses said such an incident has never been recorded in that community, and this was one of its kind.
Subsequently, police operatives were dispatched to the scene, resulting in the reported arrest of some looters.
However, there has been no official statement from the Kaduna Police spokesman ASP Mansir Hassan confirming these arrests.
This incident follows a similar occurrence over a week ago in Niger state, where hoodlums targeted a truck loaded with bags of grains during an ongoing protest.
The hoodlums, who had hijacked the protest, carted away bags of rice and other food items from the truck.
Incidents of food theft and looting are becoming common in Nigeria, as the country continues to battle with the rising cost of living.
Just days ago, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) organised a nationwide protest demanding an urgent intervention to the prevailing hardships in the country.
