Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has issued a call for tranquility among Nigerians amidst ongoing governmental efforts to enhance their livelihoods.

During a World Press Conference held in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, Speaker Abbas emphasised the government’s dedication to addressing the nation’s challenges and implementing necessary reforms.

Acknowledging the hardships faced by citizens, Speaker Abbas underscored the resilience and unity inherent in the Nigerian spirit, expressing confidence in the nation’s ability to overcome adversities.

“In the face of such hardship, it is natural to feel a sense of despair and frustration. The impact of the challenges I have identified above is felt in every home, on every street, and in the hearts of every Nigerian. Yet, it is precisely in times like these that our true strength as a nation is revealed. Our resilience, unity, and indomitable spirit have seen us through difficult times before, and I have no doubt that these qualities will carry us through again.”

Highlighting the government’s commitment to combating insecurity, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas assured Nigerians of decisive actions aimed at addressing the underlying causes of insecurity. He affirmed the deployment of both military and diplomatic resources to safeguard the populace.

“To those affected by the scourge of insecurity, I want you to know that your government hears you loud and clear. We are taking decisive steps to address the root causes of these menace, deploying both military and diplomatic resources to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians. It is a complex challenge, one that requires patience and time to resolve, but I assure you that we are making progress.”

Recognising the economic challenges confronting constituents nationwide, the speaker reaffirmed the government’s resolve to stimulate economic growth, attract investments, and generate employment opportunities.

Addressing the issue of food shortages, Speaker Abbas reiterated the significance of food security and outlined comprehensive strategies to bolster agricultural production and streamline supply chains for affordable food accessibility.

Emphasising the collective effort required to achieve national progress, the speaker called upon every Nigerian to support government initiatives and contribute to the country’s development. In solidarity, Speaker Abbas urged Nigerians from all regions to unite in advancing the nation’s interests and fostering a stronger, more cohesive Nigeria.

“I ask for your patience as these measures take effect. Change, especially of the magnitude we are aiming for, does not happen overnight. It requires time, effort, and, most importantly, the support of every Nigerian. Each of us has a role to play in this journey towards a more secure, prosperous, and food-secure Nigeria. Whether you are a farmer, a business owner, a teacher, or a student, your contribution matters. Together, we can overcome these challenges and build a brighter future for our beloved country. As your speaker, I am filled with renewed hope for what we can achieve together,” Abbas said.

Asserting the House of Representatives’ commitment to addressing security concerns, Speaker Abbas announced plans for a Legislative Summit on Security to devise legislative measures for modernising the security apparatus and enhancing operational efficiency.

Furthermore, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas pledged support for policies promoting security and stability, particularly in rural areas, to facilitate agricultural activities and ensure the availability of essential food items at reasonable prices.

The Speaker reiterated the House’s dedication to serving the Nigerian people and vowed to pursue legislative measures aimed at restoring peace, justice, and prosperity across the nation.
