How Soldiers Allegedly Beat Up Female Shiite Members, In Abuja

In the early hours of today, there was heavy gridlock on the busy Abuja-Kaduna expressway in the nation’s capital, caused by a face-off between some members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) and some men of the Nigerian Army.

According to Daily Trust, the soldiers flagged the vehicle conveying the women and began to allegedly whip them immediately they alighted from the vehicle.

The Newspaper’s correspondence at the scene of the incident also confirmed that the security operatives harassed passengers and passersby.

The narration reads as follows:

“Come out now! You are one of them!” a well-built armed soldier barked at a man in one of the buses.

A lady, who preferred anonymity, said she and two other members of her family were on their way to Jabi Motor Park when the passengers on the bus conveying them were forced out of the bus.

“Before my mother get on the bus again, the driver was forced to move on. We could not help but cry hard as we don’t know what will happen to her.”

While News Central cannot confirm the incident, we urge relevant agencies of the Nigerian government to investigate this allegation.
