Chinese telecommunications company Huawei is scheduled to launch a smartphone with a triple-folding design on Tuesday, following Apple’s unveiling of its new iPhone 16 on Monday.
After introducing its in-house artificial intelligence platform, Apple Intelligence, in July, Apple is gearing up for a product launch to demonstrate the value of its AI to investors. However, Apple’s technology is still a work in progress.
The launch of Huawei’s Mate XT appears to be a strategic move aimed at overshadowing Apple’s launch and expanding its market share in China. In collaboration with a Chinese carmaker, Huawei is preparing to reveal its line of electric vehicles and other “new energy” vehicles.
Huawei has experienced a resurgence in China, partly due to the negative impact of tensions between Washington and Beijing on Apple’s sales in the country.
It has also successfully developed high-performance semiconductor chips for its smartphones, allowing them to perform on par with other current models. Within seven hours of opening, reservations for the new phone had already reached approximately 1.3 million.
