Hundreds Stranded Over Power Disruptions at Lagos Airport

Hundreds Stranded Over Power Disruptions at Lagos Airport( News Central TV)

An unanticipated power cut Saturday hit the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, disrupting flight operations and rendering hundreds of passengers stranded.

The outage, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, prevented airlines from processing their passengers, thereby crowding the terminal.

The outage was a result of heavy rainfall on Friday night, up to the early hours of yesterday.

The development affected several flights because it occurred at a time when most international flights were to land and depart.

The airport manager, Victoria Shin-Aba, said one of their feeders developed a fault about 11pm Friday night as a result of the rain, which tripped off the main supply.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in a statement, confirmed the development and apologised to passengers and other airport users who witnessed the “temporary” outage at the airport.

FAAN Spokesperson,Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, in a statement, confirmed that the power cut was as a result of rainstorm.
