The coach of Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Bidvest Wits Gavin Hunt is confident Kaizer Chiefs can win the PSL title, but feels the pressure is more on them with few games to go.
Chiefs are top of the table with 53 points, but they are tied on same points with second placed Mamelodi Sundowns. They top with their superior goal difference.
Hunt believes Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has the experience to see his team past the line.
“It’s very difficult these last three or four games but I’m sure they [Chiefs] got enough experience. They have an experienced coach who knows how [to win]. So, let’s see what happens. I wish him well,” Hunt said.
“It is not easy to win the league but the thing is consistency is very important. We did well against Chiefs.
“When you come into this time of the year with three or four games to go, sometimes a point is not bad. People try to win games always, it is crazy what happens with players, coaches, and clubs.”
Hunt believes the pressure is more on the Amakhosi to win the league title after unsuccessful campaigns for five years, and he feels expectations are too high because they are a very big club.
“The pressure is immense and the club like Kaizer Chiefs who have not won the league for many years the pressure is even more. They are the club expected to win trophies,” added Hunt.
“People always think it is easy to win titles. Believe me, I’ve been there and it is very difficult, especially the last few games.”
With 5+ goals difference between Chiefs and Sundowns, the Amakhosi need to convincingly win their remaining two matches against relegation threatened Chippa United and Baroka FC to lift the league title.
