”I am a Spiritual Musician Not a Modern Day Artiste” – Burna Boy

Chart topping Nigerian artiste, Burna boy has pointed out that he is not a modern day artiste, as his music does not have a timeline, and it cuts across every season and time, making him a spiritual musician.

He made this known when asked to compare African giant and Twice as tall, saying, ”this is the mistake people make, I’m not a modern-day artist, I am a spiritual musician”.

The album African Giant had nominations from the Grammy awards, in the category, ”Best World Music”. The album which is a mixture of Afrobeat, dancehall, pop and hip hop featured guest appearances from Future, Damian Marley, Jorja Smith, Jeremig among others. African Giant was however supported by ”on the low” which won Viewers’ Choice at the 2020 sound city MVP Awards Festival, ”Killin Dem”, which won song of the year at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival among other awards.

Twice As Tall which was released barely two weeks ago, has gotten a buzz from both Nigerian and foreign artistes, attesting to the fact that the album is good.
The album which features guest appearances like, Youssou N’Dour, Naughty by Nature, Sauti Sol, Chris Martin and Stormzy.

Burna Boy, singer and songwriter P.Diddy, and Mama Burna are the executive producers for the record which has ”wonderful” as its lead single. The visuals of ”wonderful” got everyone talking about the highly anticipated ”Twice As Tall” album

No doubt, ”African Giant” was so good, it got fans very excited for ”Twice As Tall”, making comparison inevitable, because ”African Giant” had already set a standard, and fans were not expecting anything less.

The Grammy-nominated Nigerian artiste made it known that he does not like when they compare his releases together, as each release immortalizes a period of his life, meaning different songs at different phases have different meanings.

He says his intention when he releases a song is not for them to be compared with another video, rather he releases songs due to how he feels at that point in his life. In his words, ”I do not put projects together and release them so they can be compared with each other. I release them because that is how I am feeling in that part of my life and that makes me immortal”

He added that twice as tall is an album that shows the struggle for freedom and depicts life in general, in its good times, and in its bad, in its happy times, and in its sad times as well as in its great times”.
