Everyone has their own trying times and for the Ghanaian artiste – Kwaw Kese, 2014 was that year for him as he experienced series of unpalatable experiences.
The talented rapper disclosed that he nearly committed suicide in 2014, because that year was so rough. He said 2014 was the year he lost his manager Fennec and at the same time went through a divorce, got arrested, and served a jail term.
He said this in an interview, while he was promoting his new release he recounted the worst year of his entire life. “In 2014, after my manager was killed in cold blood and the same year I got divorced, got arrested and sent to prison, all these three things happening in one year, at a point I decided not to do music again.
He revealed that God alone was his safe haven. In his words, “at that time, I had nobody to look up to apart from God. I was really depressed and didn’t want to do music again. I didn’t know what to do with my life but God spoke to me, I listened and I came back to Ghana and that was better.”
“I was depressed for four months. I heard a voice telling me I was stronger than this and people look up to you so go back and do what you have to do,” he added.
The ‘Dondo’ crooner also added that he has really grown, and now, he has become a very responsible man, and as such, he can’t do some of the crazy things he used to do. Dondo who recently married could talk about what a year 2014 was for him.
In 2014, the ‘abodam’ rapper-Kwaw Kese who was the poster boy of street life at some point in Ghana, had a divorce.
His wife with whom he has two kids is a white American and used to work at the American Embassy in Ghana. The two were married for six years before going their separate ways.
In the same vein, Kwaw Kese lost his manager to the cold hands of death and apparently things were not the same for the rapper.
About six years ago , the entertainment industry of Ghana woke up to shocking news that sent chills down the spines of a lot of people in the country.
Assassins broke into the house of his manager, the late Fennec Okyere and stabbed him to death, and honestly speaking, we can say this a toll on the artiste and his career. His career has not been the same ever since his hardworking manager passed away.
Talking about his music career, the rapper revealed that about his album. In his words, “the whole album is called Victory. The song is not gospel but motivational. I think I’ve grown from the crazy Kwaw to a more responsible Kwaw now so most of my songs are like songs that are going to touch hearts to more. It’s going to inspire people to show love”
