“I Have Been Making Tangible Effort To Support Nigerians” – Anthony Joshua

Boxing champion ;Anthony Joshua, tells Nigerians the length he is going to see that their voices are heard. Joshua said that he will be sending care packages to Nigerians who have been gravely impacted by the recent protests, and also plans to visit the country after his world title clash against Kubrat Pulev on December 12.


Joshua also said in his tweets: “The situation has escalated, the violence and killings are horrendous. All because of people saying they want to live in peace?
“I pray God opens the gates for the heroes of Nigeria! This was never a trend for me! It’s real life and I want to learn how to make lasting change.
“I’m looking at hospitals to support, along with food and care packages in the time being.”


Anthony Joshua who has Nigerian heritage, shared a video in which he offers aid to hospitals urgently tending to the injured.


“This is a message for my people in Nigeria, even though I’m not there with you in the physical, I’ve been making some tangible effort to support your protest on the ground. I know it’s getting to a stage where things are heating up and tensions are high, but in my prayers at night I’m praying for peace and positivity, cos the people on the ground are trying to be heard for their own benefit and it’s in the benefit of the next generation” he said in the video.


He added that at times, he’s remained silent while learning about issues impacting Nigeria to avoid being misquoted, but that behind the scenes he’s working hard to provide aid and has plans to visit the country soon.
“me myself have had to take time to understand the issues that Nigerians are facing while sometimes I’m silent is because I’ve let my silence can’t be misquoted. “

Talking about what he has been pulling his weight to help Nigerians, Anthony Joshua says distance is not a barrier and he is been pulling his weight to support Nigeria and promises to return to Nigeria as soon as he I’d done competing.


“Me, my family, my close friends have been trying to do some tangible things and organising many camp packages for Nigerians on ground, even now I’m in my training camp in London and we can support you guys from a distance. After competing I’m going to try and make it to Nigeria and meet some my friends and family and meet some of the people trying to make some changes” he said

Anthony Joshua reassures Nigerians that their voices are being heard all over, he also encouraged them to keep pushing because it is for a positive cause.

but for sure from London and far and wide your voices are definitely being heard, so keep on pushing, keep on striving you’ve my support through and through my ears and my eyes are being opened. I understand the issues you guys are facing and for some people who I’m going to do enough and will be enough and some will not be enough but for together we hold hands and push through bad change we will all move forward in a positive direction, so keep on pushing your voices are already heard in my ears and your definitely have my support.
